Why Take Creatine
*After reading this section please be sure to read our Dangers of Creatine page before you decide it is right for you.
Below are some of the reasons why people choose to take the supplement Creatine.
Muscle Fatigue
Whenever you work out you slowly tear your muscle fibers, they then repair themselves creating more muscle. During this process of working out your muscle release a chemical called lactic acid. Lactic Acid has been shown to be what makes us feel the burning sensation of muscle fatigue. Creatine has the ability to reduce lactic acid, upon which users don’t feel as much muscle fatigue. This allows users to workout longer/harder than usual.
Muscle Mass
Most users of Creatine will report an increase in muscle mass. There is a big debate on whether this size increase is because of Creatine’s effect of drawing water into muscles or that athletes are just able to practice more intense workouts because of the above Muscle Fatigue benefits.
Those are the two main benefits of Creatine. There are several other theoretical benefits of Creatine. It is suggest that Creatine helps people focus, this has been referenced with vegetarians who do not get enough natural Creatine (highest concentrates in meat). It has also shown some benefits on mice, related to their overall health and lifespan.
There has been insufficient studying done that prooves Creatine as either harmful or beneficial to humans. I recommend you read the Dangers of Creatine area before you choose whether you should take it or not.
